So today is one of those days I wake up feeling like the whole world is on my shoulders. Feeling totally drained as if my energy was being pumped out during the night(I know what you just thought. you are wrong, Lol) I just want to lie down and close my eyes. But am at work and no matter what work has to go on. Which boss will listen to that kind of an excuse?
So truth is, am doing my work not because I feel like, or because I have the motivation to do it, but simply coz I have to. I am obliged to, I report to someone. If I had my way I wouldn’t even have gotten out of bed this morning.
And I especially don’t feel like blogging today.
Then It crosses my mind how our discipline when it comes to our own dreams, goals and passions is not consistent. Like we do something we love so much when we feel like it. Some writers write when they are in the mood for it. You practice your talent and long term inspiration when you are motivated to do so. How sad.
I heard Bishop Kiuna say motivation is a good thing, but dedication is better. I couldn’t agree more, you will apply that job not because you don’t have the motivation but because you are dedicated to finding a job.
You will write those lyrics not because no one has motivated you, but because you are dedicated to the music you love so much. You will wake up every day and do that which you think will lead you closer to your dreams not because you woke up rejuvenated, but because you are dedicated to live your dream.
And guess what? Motivation will catch up with you along the way.
A friend of mine told me he read somewhere; “that which an unsuccessful person hates doing, a successful person hates in equal measure but do it anyway.” And that’s the difference between the two.
So whether you wake up feeling like someone was busy planting rocks on your shoulders(though that would serve as a good massage) while others conspire to hammer your head (happens to all of us sometimes) as long as it’s not ill health, force yourself to be dedicated to your dream, your goal, your inspiration.
Take it like you owe yourself, you are your own boss, you report to you. Would you take the excuse your body is giving you?
“We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort.” Jesse Owens
“Success is about dedication. You may not be where you want to be or do what you want to do when you’re on the journey. But you’ve got to be willing to have vision and foresight that leads you to an incredible end”. Usher
