LUPAHERO Collection By Makeke

After huge experience in the kitchen and cooking, Winno-wing basket (ungo) have gained a huge popularity after being introduced officially in arts and fashion with the name Lupahelo by MAKEKE INTERNATIONAL.

It has been named LUPAHERO which is a combination of two words Lupapike which is Nyakyusa word which means Winno-wing basket (ungo) and Luhelo which is hehe word meaning Winno-wing basket (ungo).

The choice of the words has made basing on the origin of Hakeke himself since he is Hehe by origin and he had much of his lifetime spent at Mbeya which is Nyakyusa origin.

The combination of these two words aims at building a theme of being a hero since the clothes created has that taste. The word Luhelo have been changed and shortened to hero by changing a consonant sound L to R in order to get the word hero and accomplish the demand of the idea which is to develop hero.

During preparation of the first Makeke show as organized by MAKEKE INTERNATIONAL which were named I AM MAKEKE was when the idea was obtained. According to MAKEKE INTERNATIONAL it took a long time for him to get the idea to work with on a show which he had to perform the next day despite of having everything he needed for designing on his office.

After thinking for some hours on the office he decided to go out for a while then get back to the office. When he was getting back he saw winno-wing basket (ungo) on the wall directly through the window which made him to be curious on what he can do with that winno-wing basket (ungo).

After thinking for some hours MAKEKE INTERNATIONAL thought of cutting it and ware it at the neck like Maasai  but with winno-wing basket (ungo) appearance. He did the cutting and saw the possibility of having some other cuts which may be made by winno-wing basket (ungo) where from there Lupahilo designing were born and perfumed at first on I AM MAKEKE by MAKEKE INTERNATIONAL.

Despite of developing LUPAHERO designs and other African designs MAKEKE INTERNATIONAL aims to develop hero spirit among Africans and that what we are and what we have are the best than other stranger thing.
