What a better way to spend a Saturday evening than being surrounded by heroes.

Tomorrow evening the Mashujaa Awards will be happening at the Carnivore Simba Saloon. This is an annual event to recognize, appreciate and award heroes in different fields of specialization. It’s making and chronology pertains recognizing of the heroes in the society to impact and bring positive change.

The objective of the event which is now in its 4th edition is to recognize the potential in our youths. The youth are now more involved in various fields making contributions and impacts. The grind is real. And what better way to recognize that other than through awards! More so those who work not only for themselves but for the good of others; I mean that’s the point of being called a hero right?

The event appreciates the heroes in field of leadership, art, fashion and entertainment. It aims to create platform for uprising & established talents, close the gap between ordinary and extraordinary and award the leaders and mentors of great regions.

Mashujaa Awards was established in 2013 and the first edition took place the following year in Thika Town.  If you are Kenyan you would notice the similarity of the name with the public holiday previously Kenyatta day. The Awards borrows from Mashujaa day and blends to appreciate and recognize the talents in arts & entertainment as a form of youth entrepreneurship and a source of job creation in Kenya and beyond.

Thus, the event is usually held on 20th October with an exception of this year.

The three major categories are:

Leadership

The category has president of the year, which looks at back to an act of service by a president for the growth of the nation, and have served the youth’s interest. There will also be governor of the year through development of the county by promotion of talent and fashion through art. Same goes for senators, women reps, MCAs and Mps. Top 5 which are chosen by traffic team are considered for the award.

There is also an award for the campus leader of the year

Note: there will not be leadership category this year due to the political environment at the moment with elections still not clear.

Entertainment

Majorly, the category builds confidence to the upcoming and illustrates coherent cohesion in performing arts and defining music. There will be artist of the year open for all genres, deejay of the year, presenter of the year including MCs and live band of the year.  Dance crew, producer and the social media personality of the year will also be awarded/

Fashion

This will feature King and Queen Mashujaa; Runway modelling competition. To be crowned are hairstylist, make-up artist, fashion designer, chief choreographer and photographer of the year. Fashionpreneurs, fashion icons and contemporary awards will be presented as well.

An after party will follow after gifts showering.  Tickets are only 500 for regular 1000 VIP and 2000 for VVIP. Details on how to get a ticket are on the flyer.
