Most East African male artists bring it when it comes to fashion and style. This list is not comprehensive it’s just a few picks based on how these artists present themselves off the videos, and on the streets, attending events etc.
In no particular order, these are 7 stylish African male artists.
Anto Neosoul
Anto Neosoul is arguably one of Kenya’s finest vocalists. His soul music is different and that sets him apart from the rest. I mean the guy performed for Rtd. Kenyan President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi at just 9 years old.
Apart from his soulful timeless music, his charm as TV host, his acting skills and his definitely tell it as it is attitude, Anto Neosoul knows how to dress it down.
In recent times Anto Neosoul has showed us his love for Avant Garde hoodies. And hey he makes it work so we dig it too. His style does not get a nod from all, and that’s what makes it unique.
Ali Kiba
Not everyone can dance in a suit and make it look sexy, equally not every guy can sag, put on huge headphones and make you wanna rewind it. Don’t you just hate the sagging menace? but not Ali Kiba. Check out his Mwana song.
Good thing with Ali Kiba, he can rock suits, throw on a pair of jeans, pull on a hoodie and still look stylish.
Eddy Kenzo
Popularly known as Jux, this Tanzanian R&B singer has released a number of hit songs and worked with a number of top artists.
Over the years Jux has also established himself as a fashion icon in the music industry with his fine sense of fashiontrends and swag. He and girlfriend Vanessa Mdee were nominated for Abryanz fashion awards 2015, he has been named by famous magazines like “BaabKubwa” and “Mzuka Magazine” as the most fashionable musician in East Africa.
Sauti sol
This Kenyan afro-pop band made up of Bien, Chimano, Delvin Mudigi and Polycarp has had their success in the music industry representing Africa to the globe. They have topped Kenyan charts and gained international attention performing in Africa and beyond including Europe and the US.
Their fashion sense? they have had both praise and backlash regarding their style. But lets face it, who hasn’t had a “bad day”? every fashionable person be it stylists, designers or any other fashion icon will tell you they have had a “less stylish day”.
Their style is a blend of everything showcasing different influences.
Diamond Platinumz
Would I be forgiven if I left him out? the now great bongo flava artist, in all his glamour and huge chums once sold second hand clothes, to raise money for his studio recordings. “Nenda Kamwambie” which was a dedication to his girlfriend who left him when he had nothing, opened doors for him in the music industry, and as they say the rest is history.
He is now the envy of many, with his great style and great music. Diamond and Zari won the Abryanz style and fashion awards 2015 as East Africa’s most stylish couple.
