POWERFUL ft Nairobi Apparel District by Adelle Onyango
Last week Adelle Onyango spoke about the unveiling of her capsule collection in the coming weeks which she has been working on for the last two years.
For those who don’t know, Adelle Onyango is a successful woman, a radio presenter and a business lady. It is no doubt that she has love for fashion. Her style is mostly edgy, unique and definitely stands out. We saw Adelle attend the Afro Punk South Africa latest edition, and she was looking bomb in her outfit.
The capsule collection is a tribute to her mum. According to Adelle, her mum had 4 characteristics/attributes which she wishes to not only incorporate but bring out in all the collections to share with the world: A powerful, limitless and strong woman who was proud of her journey.
She worked with 4 creatives to achieve this and over the next 4 weeks she intends to reveal one item and one creative per week.
“2yrs ago I had the idea of designing a collection in honour of my late mum, Mary Anyango Onyango. I collaborated with 4 creatives to achieve this. A collection of timeless pieces that would bring attributes of my late mum to life.”
She has already unveiled the first design which represents. Power and I must say am in love with the bomber jacket. For this design she collaborated with Nairobi Apparel District. The jacket is available for sale and goes for Ksh 3500.
“To honour my late mum – I took some of her characteristics that I aspire to and together with super talented creatives, brought those characteristics to LIFE! POWERFUL; my mum was such a powerful woman, powering through her battle with cancer, raising three wonderful daughters, fighting for real change in this country! I hope I will be even just HALF as powerful as she was!
