While stalking Lupita Nyongo (yea I do stalk fashionistas from time to time ok maybe most of the time) I came across her illustration done by one talented F.Kendell. So I checked her up and I got to talk to her and she was very receptive to me doing a post on her illustrations.

with the massive crop of photographers, fashion illustration is slowly losing relevance. However if you ask me fashion illustration and photography are two different aspects. I don’t think fashion illustration should be thrown out the door.

while it was wildly commissioned for reproduction in fashion magazines as one part of an editorial feature or for the purpose of advertising and promoting fashion makers, fashion boutiques and department stores, this has been replaced with photographic images instead.

And while we don’t deny the power of photography, there is need to translate an idea or image into a fashion illustration. It is a form of art on its own.

I will be doing a follow up post on fashion illustration, meanwhile get inspired by F.kendell illustration. Kendell is Fashion Illustrator from Cameroon based in Paris.

Francoise has featured in various magazines & websites.

In her illustration she has featured celebrities apart from Lupita,  Wendy Williams, Kris Jenner, Viola Davis, Taraji Henson, Beyonce & Kelly Rowland.

I discovered from fashionghana.com that Kendells feature of Lupita Nyongo was inspired by the Ghanaian aspiring model and blogger Laurie Frempong’s headwrap and earings style.
