The Fashion highlights of the event.
Kenya Fashion Awards launch (2022) was held this past week@ WAMA Africa in Lavington. This is the entity’s 7th edition. The launch was accompanied by Nextgen Fashion weekend on Saturday. The Award show aims to honor, celebrate and award the most outstanding in the fashion industry.
During the launch, this year’s nominees who best contribute to the Kenyan fashion industry were announced. The award show is scheduled for 5th November 2022 at the Hub Karen.
The Kenya fashion awards launch was attended by the founder Atman Ngau, content creators, influencers, media personalities, fashion enthusiasts, models including the current Miss Earth Somalia Safia Mohamed, designers a well as industry leaders such as Dr. Ezekiel Mutua who is the CEO of MCK, among others.
“The purpose of the Awards is to honor Kenyan Talents who have made a significant contribution to this most discerning of industries. We recognize the very best of Kenyan Fashion Talent from designers to fashion photographers, models, stylists, make-up artists, marketers, retailers, choreographers, fashion & design students, and fashion writers.”
NextGen Fashion Weekend, on the other hand, is a 2-day event. This brings together upcoming designers and students from different colleges and universities across the country. The students participate in the competition while showcasing their work or designs. It also offers a platform for the workshop participants to undertake their practicals.
“We call it the Gateway to the fashion world for these young Creatives. The creatives are from different Fashion Universities & Colleges in Kenya & in the region. “KFAs Nextgen Fashion Weekend is a fashion Event whereby the students from this fashion Institution, as well as Upcoming designers, compete for the categories Student & Upcoming Designers of the year. This happens during the main Awarding Gala Night to be celebrated later in the year.” KFA
